Digital Synapse Exchange — DSE AudioAmp
The universal amplifier for Windows
Boost, equalize, compress and auto-level the audio of any application — browser, game, media player — in real time, with a single tool. Automatic setup, savable presets, free, open, no ads.
Prerequisite: DSE AudioAmp requires the free VB-Cable virtual driver to intercept your system's audio. Installation takes 2 minutes — the full guide is below. Once VB-Cable is installed, the amplifier handles all the audio routing for you.
What DSE AudioAmp does
Universal amplification
Boosts the volume of any application beyond the Windows system limit — up to 20× gain, with a soft limiter to prevent harsh clipping.
3-band equalizer
Bass (200 Hz), Mid (1 kHz) and Treble (8 kHz) — adjust the sound to your taste in real time. Scroll the mouse wheel over any knob to fine-tune.
Presets
Four one-click presets — Music, Film, Voice, Night — to instantly reshape gain, EQ and compression for what you are listening to.
Auto loudness (AGC)
Automatically evens out the volume between sources. No more a loud ad after a whispering film — the sound follows you, not the publisher. The status bar warns you when the correction reaches its ±12 dB limit.
Verified device resolution
Every candidate device is actually probed before use, and the sample rate is negotiated rather than assumed — 48 kHz, 44.1 kHz, whatever your hardware accepts. A device that cannot open is discarded before it can fail. No guessing from device names.
Automatic routing
The amplifier switches Windows output to the virtual cable on launch and restores your device on exit. Nothing to configure in Windows settings.
You choose the output
Two dropdowns let you pick the input and output explicitly — set to Auto by default, and remembered between sessions. Because which speaker you want is an intention, and nothing in the machine contains it.
Follows your hardware
Unplug your speakers, plug in headphones — the amplifier notices the change, re-resolves the chain and keeps playing. Sample rates are converted on the fly when the two ends disagree.
Built-in diagnostic
Click the status bar to see the active chain, the routing state and every device probed — including the virtual endpoints deliberately discarded. When something is wrong, you can see why.
Free and ad-free. No subscription, no data collection. Your settings, your device choice and your window size are saved locally between sessions.
How it works
DSE AudioAmp intercepts your system audio via a virtual driver, processes it, then sends it to your real output device — and it wires that chain up automatically, probing each device and negotiating the sample rate as it goes.

or headphones
The last arrow is the hard part. Windows exposes the same physical device several times, under different audio APIs and sometimes truncated names, alongside virtual endpoints that look exactly like real speakers. Version 3 resolves that chain by testing it, not by reading it.
Installation — 2 steps
Step 1 — Install VB-Cable (prerequisite)
Install as administrator
Unzip the archive, right-click VBCABLE_Setup_x64.exe and choose "Run as administrator".
Restart your PC
A restart is required for Windows to properly register the new virtual audio driver.
Step 2 — Install DSE AudioAmp
Download the app
Click the download button above to get ampli_windows.exe. No installation, no Python required.
Launch the app
Double-click ampli_windows.exe. Windows SmartScreen may appear — click "More info" then "Run anyway". If the status bar reports that routing is not being driven, relaunch with "Run as administrator".
Read the status bar
The bottom bar shows exactly where the sound goes — input, output, audio API and both sample rates. Use the gain knob, EQ, presets and auto-loudness to shape your sound. Your device is restored when you close the app.
Every control responds to the mouse wheel on hover — no need to click first. Hold Shift while scrolling for larger steps, and double-click a knob to reset it. Your settings are saved automatically for next time.
No sound, or the wrong speaker? Click the status bar. The diagnostic window lists the active chain, whether automatic routing is available, and every input and output the amplifier probed — including the virtual endpoints it discarded on purpose to avoid feeding the cable back into itself. If you disagree with its choice, override it in the Routing dropdowns; your pick is remembered.
